Elin Egoyan aka Maripel aka Marijke Pel

Elin lives in The Netherlands with husband, 2 sons and 3 cats.

My artistic life started about 20 years ago with a pencil, soft pastel crayon and my fingers as tools. Finally after a long time ignoring my desire to draw (teenagers are busy with far more ‘important’ things of course:)) I gave in and,… was lost! I really got the hang of it!

In pastel crayon I found soon satisfaction in making ethnical portraits. The challenge to make them almost photographic was high, and came out as I liked it. As example I took photo’s that triggered me. A look or expression in the faces or simply how someone sat or did was enough. I took what I found important and let out what was not essential. If you are interested to see these pastels you will find some of them in ZRM Gallery. (see my picks)

But the smell of oil paint was calling and it did not take very long to change my direction. First oil paintings, but because of my impatience ( it takes sooooo long before oil paint is dry) I started soon after that with acryl paint.

Looking back I see that my subjects often expresses things of (my) life. Things were I am thinking about, a feeling or emotion. I try to tell that in bright and harmonious colours and painting with my intuition and inner emotion as guide, I let myself float with the motions and colours. Normaly starting a painting and not knowing were it ends.

When I came to Second Life, one of my main goals was to have my own gallery and show what I made in RL. In those 3 years I found so many satisfaction in being creative in more ways SL offers. The landscaping, the building,… the drive to make creations better and better.

Very careful I stepped recently on the artistic SL-road and make digital art and vases. And so my SLigital art and RLainting art and life’s meet and unite to something were I am very happy about.

KABLOOM
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When I was invited to particpate the exhibition Kabloom, I felt this was a challenge to make digital art with a theme as a guideline. Luckely the subject was a good choise. Every artist can find something in it.
I took the Egyptian symbol KA, what stands for life force. This force is something every living souls will reach at (reaching hands) Also you will find the Ankh symbol in this artwork, what has more or less the same meaning as the KA. The color choise just happend intuitive. Strange because normally I am more atracted to warm colors like red orange and yellow. Clear will be that the turning vortex in the middle has to draw the life force to one point preparing you to a bliss experience.

Take a look at the Kabloom exhibition

PERSPECTIVES
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Perspectives is a contest organized by Figbash Snook. He asked several artists to make an artpiece based on a picture he send them. The picture did not tell me so much. So it was hard to get something done what tells a story or expres a feeling.
Greetings!

Welcome to Perspectives 2010, and thanks again for taking the time to be a part of this amazing project. This note contains your reference photo, along with all the information you will need to make your submission

====== SUBMISSION GUIDELINES ======

You can also add as much additional content as you feel necessary, from any source that is not a violation of copyright regulations. I also ignored the first rule of dynamic composition and centered the subject to give you the freedom to move your frame of reference in any direction you choose.

Roberto Tardito-->monday march 21st @11:00 am slt

Roberto started making music in 1998. In 2003 he wrote the music for the show "Simone Weil". After that, in 2004-2005 he presented his songs in several live shows, included a performance during Tavagnasco Rock Festival. In that night he performed on the same stage as Mauro Pagani and Morgan. During 2006 he worked to a discographical project, CONTROVENTO, released in July 2007In this album some famous Italian artists played with him. People like: Francesco Guccini, Ivano Fossati, Angelo Branduardi, Fabrizio De André, Niccolò Fabi, Samuele Bersani.
In 2008 he released his last cd "OTREBOR".He's currently releasing his last cd "Se io fossi Dylan".

THE FIRST EXHIBITION:

OPEN THIS END was presented for the first time in Wizard, thanks to our generous Promoter and Hosted CATALINA McCaw, with the very well known exhibition called: "Post Crisis Era"

The POST CRISIS ERA exhibition concept:
“The economic crisis of 2008-2009 is the greatest crack in history. Never before has the world experienced anything like it. Now, in these days, hopefully the light is beginning to shine. We can see some optimism coming to us. The worst times seems blowing up. But something looks clear: the industrial stage seems to come up to the full circle. Are we now in the new Post-Crisis era? How will our world be next decades? "
The artists gave us their interpretation.

POST CRISIS ERA: THE EXHIBITION TEXT (in English, Spanish, Italian, Chinese) Translations thanks to Catalina McCaw, A. Marchi and Yinong Rao.

seleneluna calamity-->march 18th @1:00 pm slt

A lunatic girl with a solar personality , this is Seleluna Calamity!

A singer very bubbly, self-deprecating and very funny.
In RL has a funky soul band very committed in northern Italy.

With a voice clear and loud, that will surprise you with a vast repertoire, and never discount, she is full of goodies and songs of great Italian and foreign authors.

That can range from Tenco to DeAndre, to songs by Aretha Franklin, which are a little inconfondably Selena's signature,
up to the success of Nat King Cole.

Her concerts are always full of surprises, starting from the theme that every time she tries to change the dress code that advises (es.serata in white, red) the interaction with the public, perhaps by changing the lyrics to the songs.Selena loves live hilarious translations from English into Italian and vice versa

quinton whitman-->march 17th @11:00 am slt

Tallan's ( aka Tim White or Quinton Whitman) unique style has been shaped by a myraid of influences. From the traditional Appalachian mountain music and storytelling of his grandparents and artist such as Woddy Guthrie; to the bluegrass and country music that surrounded him growing up by those such as Doc Watson and Johnny Cash; to the folk and political songs of singer/songwriters like Muddy Waters, Pete Seager, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, David Bromberg and Crosby, Stills & Nash that inspired him in his teens; to the intricate, haunting picking styles of an assortment of artists.

Throw in 4 years performing country with the Flaherty Brothers Band, a 12 year jaunt with the jazz/fusion band Still Portrait, then 5 years with the rock band The Ride, and you begin to understand the depth that is evident in his singing, playing and writing.

Born in the the mountain state old West Virginia, Tallan began playing guitar when he was 12 years old. Though he always continued to play guitar, for most years he was primarily known as a bass player - transitioning from rock to country to jazz back to rock. His first love though was, and is, the guitar and he has returned to it full force when he discovered the virtual world of Second Life and began streaming in live shows as a solo performer.

Tallan's performances take the listener on a wild journey through music and life - traditional mountain songs or folk song may lead to stories about his family's life in the mountains .... rock and country songs often prompt topical social commentaries ... and through out it all, he intersperses his shows with orginal songs that range from lush, instrumental portraits to songs whose verses can be poigant or humorous or sometimes biting depictions of modern life.

Join the Quinton Whitman Fan Club to receive notices on the multiple venues graced by Q!

With three self-recorded solo albums released during a period of artistic solitude on the shores of Lake Erie, Craig Lyons has exploded into LA's music scene with the release of his latest release, 'On Reflection'.

A quiet small-town guy bringing heart back to a cynical music landscape, Craig brings intimate acoustic sublimity to his live electric rock show. His band performs regularly at LA's most distinguished venues including The Viper Room, Key Club, and the House of Blues.

Quickly recognizing the talent of this new artist, Craig’s music has been licensed by Universal Music, Fox, MTV, and Tokyo TV, and heard on shows such as 'So You Think You Can Dance' and 'The Real World'. Craig has been nominated for the LA Music Awards 2 consecutive years and swept 2008's Star Music Awards, taking home top honors 'Artist of the Year' and 'Singer/Songwriter of the Year'. Craig has appeared in Music Connection Magazine and can be heard on FM radio (including ClearChannel), independent radio (including WOXY), and college radio (including 92WICB, MTV-U best station 2008). He has endorsement deals with Martin Guitars, Gretsch Guitars, Monarchy Collection, and Bico.

A fervent social activist and volunteer, Craig is featured on the ambitious charity 'Feed333' album, has organized his own benefit performances for Shriner's Hospital pediatric burn victims, volunteers as a mentor for musically gifted special-needs children, and is committed to personal and professional environmental responsibility. He performs live regularly for a worldwide audience in SecondLife, where he can tour worldwide virtually without leaving a carbon footprint.

Craig's first collaborative effort, 'On Reflection', features his dedicated band, a live Hollywood string orchestra, Grammy-winning mixer Rob Hoffman (Christina Aguilera, Michael Jackson), and multi-platinum mastering engineer Patricia Sullivan Fourstar (Paul McCartney, U2). With FOX TV airtime in the week of its launch, this work represents Craig's finest work to date and is thrusting him into the next tier of his already flourishing career.

THE FUNKALICIOUS ONE!

Dexter presents a show based on Live Guitar and vocal that features mainly
original material but also showcases adaptions of an array covers & classics

Beyond this Dexter augments his show with self created backing tracks
These are taken from Dexters 6CDs and are instruments that were all
played by him in those productions.

These give listeners the 'Fully Blown' version of the song rather than the basic
acoustic version - but Dexter will keep you guessing changing between the 2.

Finally, the other major factors in Dexter's shows are firstly 'The Dexcelerators'
Two beautiful and stylish female dancers that join Dexter in the later part, with syncronized routines and effects. Secondly, Dexter's own huge collection of Particle effects that he stas off as the show progresses to its peak.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
21st CENTURY TROUBADOR!

Dexter is very much a pioneer.
This is evident in his unique self-created guitar style alone, but now even more so through his endeavours in the virtual world of ‘Second Life’.

After 1 year performing in this medium he has gleaned a massive following in the USA, Europe and the UK. So much so, that he will be touring there in the future.

Now he sells his music all over the world. His new CD is called ‘TIMESCAPE’ and was recorded ‘live’ at Damien Gerard Studios. Both audio and video of the whole event was streamed - as it happened, to a rapt international audience. A world 1st!

Wizard is proud to introduce you its new resident artist,katyit60 cyberstar:she has her store in the rotunda and in the city.
Katyit60's works are just the result of her passion for graphic art.
Her love for art began six years ago, when a friend gave her a photo-retouch software... This was the starting point of a continuous self-taught study, followed with a personal research between various manuals of the net.
At the beginnings (before she found this kind of resources) she didn't know that her works could appear on web or even that they had a specific name. She had always called them "emotive puzzles". She found out, the name of her technique is BLEND, as fusion of different images, effects, masks, shapes... all blended by a lot of fantasy :)

acoustic version - but Dexter will keep you guessing changing between the 2.

A world 1st!

eio tuquiri-->feb 14th @4:00 pm slt

Eio's music is raw as well as polished, heartfelt, dark and intense, yet calming. She uses rhythm, melody, mood and lyrics in beautiful and intriguing ways creating a deep full sound. Her style is unique. Vocalist, composer, acoustic guitarist and keyboard player, she combines elements of blues, folk and classical with an energy that ebbs and flows with her mood and the feel of the crowd.

Description of Style - QUOTES from Fans;
“Blues-roots, progressive, innovative, original”
Rick (original musician)
“Eerily beautiful songs that evoke a depth of meaning...” Marv (musician/producer)

“Her music takes me to places inside myself I didn't know existed.”
Winter (RL/SL visual artist)
“You play guitar like a guy.”
Guy guitarists (I always appreciate this backhanded compliment.)

A few words from Eio -
Cyberspace is largely uncharted territory for live performers, and I’ve always found it stimulating to create on the edge of something new. My entrance into Second Life corresponds with a major shift in my personal life and in my music. These two things, the new venue and my fresh perspective, have lead me to decide not to list the real life accomplishments often found in bios. My story starts with Eio. Judge my music by what I do here in Second Life.
Rezday – 09/20/2007

Some Artist's Covered (when I do cover songs ;-)
Joni Mitchell, Bryan Ferry, B.B King, Sheryl Crow, Beatles, John Prine, Bill Withers, and some traditional songs.

Frets Nirvana -Feb 11th @2:00 pm slt

Frets Nirvana grew up in the rock and roll city of Cleveland, Ohio and in his good old band days could be seen hanging out and playing in clubs with the likes of Joe Walsh and the James Gang and Phil Keaggy and Glass Harp. While playing guitar for as long as he can remember, his love of that instrument has developed into a focus on acoustic fingerstyle guitar. His music interests are wide. At any moment in time you can hear him playing something from Merle Travis, Chet Atkins or Jerry Reed then moving on to old Delta type blues tunes, picking up a resonator guitar to play slide then playing an arrangement of a classic Beatles tune. Frets feels that life is too short to experience one genre of music and as a result his playing keeps the listener interested by offering a variety that demands Frets constantly concentrate on improving his skills. Of course his old rock and roll roots still come out now and again as well! If you like good instrumental music and you like guitar then check Frets out in his his new life in Second Life! You are guaranteed an enjoyable music experience!

Deadeye Foggerty - feb 8th@6:00 pm slt

Deadeye Foggarty plays acoustic guitar and weaves song stories filled with hints of political activism, personal observations of significant people he's encountered, and the state of life in general. He is not locked into any one genre, his originals range from folk to rock and everything inbetween. He also enjoys finding unusual songs and rearranging them into unique covers.

Short Bio:
Deadeye Foggarty is a songwriter who brings an eclectic blend of acoustic music to the stage. His performances feature offerings from traditional folk and roots music to the work of contemporary singer/songwriters in addition to his own original compositions.

In RL, Deadeye first started playing guitar and keyboards back in High School. He gigged around the midwest in assorted R&B bands as well as playing music in the Wisconsin-based acoustic music duo known as "Woodenships" in the early seventies. He then relocated to the Twin Cities (Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN) where he worked in professional theater for a decade and a half. Followed by more than a decade working in the computer industry as a systems analyst and consultant.

Now he's back to his music and loving it! His style is very eclectic and includes elements from folk, acoustic rock, blues, calypso, country and Tin Pan Alley novelty songs. His influences include: Townes Van Zandt, Steve Earle, Son House, Bob Brozman and and too many others to name here.

Deadeye has an established musical presence in SL and is known for his soulful voice and his
exceptional guitar playing as well as his vast repetoire of unique and thought provoking originals.

Deadeye believes SL is a great place for singer/songwriters to present their wares and he looks forward to sharing his songs with the good folks here in SecondLife.
